Tecno has Unveiled a concept of one of the most advanced smartphones in the Tecno Phantom series. By the end of August 2023 the company had revealed the Tecno Phantom Ultimate phone which could house many exiting features.
In a video posted on the company’s YouTube channel, it shows the rollable Phantom Ultimate as it expands sideways, increasing the display from 6.55” to 7.11” in less than 2 seconds.
The phantom Ultimate also has a side mounted motor that’s responsible for the rollable feature activated by a button on top of the device.
The TECNO PHANTOM Ultimate also has an extra screen at the back which acts as an Always-On Display.
Specs-wise, the panel is a 7.11” Panel On-cell LTPO AMOLED with 2,296 x 1,596 pixel resolution and 388 PPI. It offers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage.
According to Tecno, the smartphone can be held comfortably with one hand because its base is only 9.93 mm thick. The device has textured back for enhanced grip and protective glass for the sliding area.
The Phantom Ultimate is currently just a concept, and there is no indication that it will hit the market any time soon, which is the truly sad news. There are undoubtedly technological hurdles that must be solved before rollable phones are available, and it is impossible to predict how long that process will take.
